New Site, New Uses
Working with Medfield, Massachusetts, and national music educators and music groups, the Lowell Mason Foundation will renovate and expand the house for:
- Concerts
- Music and community meeting space
- Music teaching and practice space
- Music performance space
- Office space for music education professional organizations
- Artist-in-Residence programs
- Music enrichment programs for school children from Medfield and surrounding towns
- Lowell Mason Museum incorporating his piano and other artifacts from the Medfield Historical Society and other collections
For music educators this reuse will create a center that showcases the history of music education and its value; create a new venue for lessons, recitals, and concerts; and honor the legacy of the Father of American Music Education.
For Medfield it means exposure to music educators and musicians, bringing visitors to downtown, and creating needed meeting and music space. The work will restore the house to its former glory and showcase it's historical architecture and construction techniques, furthering Medfield as a historic destination.
